RPG Real Estate supports the environmental film festival TUR Ostrava 2008

Ostrava – This year RPG Real Estate becomes the partner of the 5th film festival TUR Ostrava 2008 which shall take place in the House of Culture in Ostrava from April 21 to April 25, 2008. The support of the festival concentrated on ecology and environment relates to the RPG Real Estate's concept to support the sustainable development of the region.

The TUR Ostrava 2008 festival of films on ecology and environment is patroned by Martin Bursík, the Minister of the Environment, Martin Říman, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Petr Kajnar, the Mayor of Ostrava and Pavol Lukša, the vice-governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region.
„With respect to the regional concentration of our existing portfolio we understand RPG Real Estate is an important partner of the Moravian-Silesian Region, prepared to participate in the overall development of the region,“ Petr Handl, the RPG Real Estate external relations manager, says.
Besides the numerous residential buildings comprising 44 000 apartments and many commercial buildings the RPG Real Estate’s portfolio include more than 1800 ha of land located in Ostrava, Havířov, Karviná and in other important places of the region.  There are small independent plots of land as well as large compact strategic areas including brownfields. Depending on the character and location of particular plots of land it is possible to use them for various projects – residential, industrial or leisure time ones.
"We aim to evaluate the land damaged by industry and mining, re-integrate it to the settlements and landscape, create new jobs and thus contribute to further development of the region,“ Petr Handl says.
The cooperation of RPG Real Estate with the city of Havířov in seeking the future for the premises of the former Dukla mine may serve as a particular example of an implemented project. The premises feature a 30 ha plot of land, offering more than a thousand hectares of development area for the future. The mining was closed down at the beginning of 2007 and at present the cleanup of the results of mining activities is performed. The area is still owned by the OKD company however in October 2008 it is scheduled to be transferred to the RPG Real Estate portfolio.  That is why the possibilities to use the premises in future are sought today.  The area might serve as commercial and industrial facilities using the existing historical and administrative buildings with added leisure time activities.  Among others a business incubator should be established there.
„In relation to our intended participation in sustainable development of the Moravian-Silesian Region we would like to take part in projects aiming to support public health and education. The development of rental housing is an important part of our work because in our opinion rental housing significantly supports work force mobility and should be an integral part of the residential offer in this region," Petr Handl explains other areas that RPG Real Estate concentrates on.
